You Took a Calligraphy Workshop… Now What?
Most beginner calligraphy classes give you a quick introduction, but after the class ends, you still feel unsure of what to practice or how to improve.
This workshop was designed to bridge that gap.
Over four weeks, you'll learn the structure behind modern calligraphy so you can practice with clarity and confidence.
Week One | The Foundation
Before we start writing letters in calligraphy, we need to learn the basics. For this first lesson, we will learn about the history of Western calligraphy, all the tools and supplies we're using throughout class, and the fundamental strokes that will make up your letterforms.
Week Two | Minuscule or Lowercase Letters
If you've left a calligraphy class still feeling confused about how to correctly build your letterforms, you're going to love this lesson. In week two, we will learn the structure of every letterform so you can build them confidently without needing to trace every single time.
Week Three | Majuscule or Uppercase Letters and Spacing
Now it's time to learn the remainder of the alphabet with the uppercase letterforms. After that, I'll walk you through the process of connecting your letterforms into words, so you can go home and practice some connections before our last class.
Week Four | Writing Words + Feedback
In this last lesson, you'll practice writing words using panagrams. I will provide guidelines of different sizes for you to practice without tracing. At this point in the workshop, I will also be sure to give every student individual feedback so you know what to work on in the weeks to come outside the classroom.

Hey, I'm Arielle! I've been a professional calligrapher for over 13 years, and for the past four years I have dedicated my studies to learning calligraphy with master calligraphers from around the world.
I started off my practice as "self-taught" and personally know the difference that proper mentorship can have on your calligraphy. My goal is to teach you calligraphy in a way that is clear, thoughtful, and fun so you leave class feeling confident and excited to keep picking up your pen each day.
