This painting was named “comparison” as it comes from the struggle to tear away from a place of negativity and “not enough” while comparing ourselves to others. Constantly bombarded with what our peers and inspirations are accomplishing and discovering, we often can feel like we aren’t where we should be. The harsh strokes can barely be seen blending into the contrasting tones around them, but the bright colors create a feeling of shock, and a glimmer of joy. This piece serves as a reminder that although sometimes it may be tough, we can draw our focus inwards and towards our own goals… to not be filled with desire and jealousy, but to draw our energy forward to what makes us feel true, pure joy.
